The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has announced its new Restoration and Event Facility plans. This is the next chapter in the Museum’s complete overhaul and expansion, which began in 2023. The new facility will be located in the Town of Speedway just outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The original plans for the new facility were announced in July 2023 when the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum shared its vision for the renovation of the main museum building. The museum reopened to the public on April 2 after completing a 17-month renovation. This additional location will provide dedicated space for the full-time restoration department to continue preserving and caring for the vehicle collection. It will also feature an event space, offering another option for meeting and event planners in the Indianapolis area. The new 60,000-square-foot Restoration and Event Facility will include six restoration bays, two detailing bays, and dedicated space for vehicle storage. Cars not displayed in the Museum will be housed in the new facility, where the Museum plans to have rotating exhibits and offer public tours. Work is expected to begin in summer 2025 with an anticipated completion date of late 2026. (fb)
