Locally, we have witnessed a troubling rise in older adults experiencing homelessness. According to our end-of-year data, the number of guests aged 60 and older staying in our individual shelters has doubled over the past decade—from 163 elders in Fiscal Year 2014 to 324 elders in Fiscal Year 2024. A decade ago, older adults made up just 8% of our individual shelter population.

A huge thank you to the generous parishioners of Catholic Weymouth (St. Jerome and Immaculate Conception Parishes) for their continued support of Father Bill’s & MainSpring. During Lent, they donated over $4,000 worth of household goods to help FBMS South Shore residents in need.
