Down in a green and shady bed, A modest violet grew, Its stalk was bent, it hung its head, As if to hide from view. And yet it was a lovely flower, Its colours bright and fair; It might have graced a rosy bower, Instead of hiding there, Yet there it was content to bloom, In modest tints arrayed; And there diffused its sweet perfume, Within the silent shade. Then let me to the valley go, This pretty flower to see; That I may also learn to grow In sweet humility. -"The Violet" by Jane Taylor Photo by Sammy Dalati (fb)

🌲Glacial Prairie Chapter volunteers sure do make an impact! For over a year, volunteers have been steadily working at Mukwonago River Oak Barrens to expand the footprint of the most valuable habitats on the site. In these photos, you can see the major impact on the landscape after the removal of massive Scotch pines and brush. But this work can't continue if Mukwonago River Oak Barrens isn't protected and funds aren't secured for ongoing land stewardship. Help support these volunteers to be able to continue doing the work necessary to allow this unique site to thrive!
