EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT EMPLOYEE: ESHELL MCKNIGHT TITLE: PROCUREMENT SPECIALIST LOCATION: BISHOPS WOODS LENGTH OF SERVICE: 25 YEARS What is your job at Community Care? My name is Eshell McKnight, and I have worked for Community Care for 25 years. I began as an aide working in the day center at the Fond du Lac location, moved to a receptionist, transportation dispatcher, and now procurement specialist. As a procurement specialist, my day-to-day tasks involve creating, organizing, and following up with authorization orders for medical supplies and nutritional supplements. I am proud to say I place well over 100 orders daily. This also involves communication via email with social workers, medical representatives, other team members, and delivery companies to ensure the shipment of goods to the participants serviced by our organization. How did you find your way to Community Care? When I embarked on life’s journey, I had no clue I would end up at Community care. I was referred by a close friend, Mrs. Debra Gordon, to apply, and the rest is history. What do you think is the most important skill someone in your position needs to have? To be successful in my current position, it is important to have patience, be a team player, have good communication skills, practice good time management, and have analytical skills. What do think is the best attribute you bring to your team? Above all, I bring all the qualities previously listed to my team. We all must move on one accord and work in the best interest of our participants daily. Do you have any strategies for dealing with stress at work? When presented with work stressors, I am always mindful of our participants and the fact that we are all human. However, we must acknowledge that we all need to operate with professionalism to maintain a good work environment. What advice would you give to someone considering a career in long-term care? If one is considering a career in long-term care, knowing that you work in the service of others and their personal needs is essential. Being of service to others has always been my life purpose, which is why I have been successful thus far. Operating in a place of selflessness is required in this field of work. How would you describe Community Care to someone considering working here? For future employees considering employment within Community care, I ask that you complete your research, understand the organization’s mission, and truly consider if this is the place for you. Who are some of your biggest influences? I am most influenced by my successful children, who currently hold the roles of social worker, teacher, accountant, and owner of a fantastic daycare center. These ladies embody and exhibit black excellence. Where is your favorite place to visit in Wisconsin? My favorite place to visit is my mother’s home. Her home offers comfort, love, and peace. What is something you can’t live without? Living without my mother is unimaginable. I attribute the best part of me to my mother raising me and being in the company of my family. TOP FIVE FAVORITES 1) Drink: Minute Maid lemonade 2) Color: Green 3) Vegetable: Tomatoes and cucumbers 4) Day of the Week: Saturday 5) Hobby: Hanging with my grandchildren, attending church, gardening, and fishing (fb)
