CHRISTMAS HOUSE INC
The Chapel Hill Service League was formed in 1939 to meet three goals: 1) Provide Community Service 2) Contribute to Members' Development 3) Promote Fellowship. All women who live or work in Chapel Hill and vicinity are eligible for membership. Our mission is to provide holiday hope and empowerment to economically disadvantaged children in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Orange County, NC public school districts and their families. Christmas House provides gifts for more than 800 children, all from families referred to us by school social workers as being most in need of our assistance. Each year, we set up a one-day “shop” at a local church with all new toys, warm coats and beautiful books for over 800 children from age 3 through 8th grade. Parents and guardians are invited to select the most desired gifts for their children, as only they would know, to be taken home for their own celebrations. In this way, Christmas House is uniquely empowering and respectful of families in our diverse community.
