On Wednesday, May 28th the Maine Legislature Judiciary Committee will be voting on whether to advance two critically-needed pieces of legislation to safeguard our public safety resources from being diverted to further the federal government’s mass deportation agenda. ➡️ LD 1259 would prohibit formal agreements between state and local law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) ➡️ LD 1971 would fill crucial gaps by prohibiting other types of activities that ultimately lead to people being handed over to immigration officers via state resources Contact your Maine state representative and senator BEFORE WEDNESDAY to urge them to support LD 1259 and LD 1971! Reminder: Non-citizens and citizens alike can take part in this action. Members of Maine’s Legislature represent all of us, regardless of immigration status.
