Imire Rhino and Wildlife Conservation – Poaching Incident It is with deep sadness, and defeated hearts that we report the tragic poaching of our beloved black rhino Gomo. Gomo was poached on Monday 28th of April. The discovery of him dead was our worst nightmare, one that the Imire team work tirelessly every day to try and prevent. As a family, a team and a community, we are beyond devastated that our gentle-natured Gomo was so senselessly killed. It is hard to put into words the loss of an animal who has given so much to rhino education and awareness and who was known and loved by so many people around the world. The pain of losing such a gentle, iconic animal is immeasurable. His legacy, however, will continue to inspire and drive our mission forward while we navigate our grief. The stark reality of the ongoing threats faced by rhinos only strengthens our resolve to protect them. As we come to terms with our loss, we are more committed than ever to ensuring justice for Gomo and all those like him. Tomorrow, Sir David Attenborough celebrates his 99th birthday, 🥳🥂🐝and we want to send him our warmest congratulations! Having him with us in Sweden to celebrate and present him with @tpwf_award was truly one of the most incredible experiences of our lives. And if anyone ever wonders what David Attenborough is like in person, we can say this: he is even more wonderful than you could ever imagine.
