As today marks the end of Women's History Month in the U.S., we're shining a light on women and their many contributions to Rwanda's #mining sector.✨ From directly mining to support roles at mine sites and along the entire value chain, women play important roles in mining, but their work isn't always recognized. Since 2021, Pact has been working with local women-led NGO Rwanda Women In/And Mining Organization (WIAMO) and the Rwanda Mines, Petroleum, and Gas Board to better understand the barriers to women's participation in mining and implement activities to overcome the challenges. We are thrilled to share that the exhibition, Embroidered with Pain, is coming to the U.S. in April. The exhibition, which features embroidery created by Ukrainian women impacted by war, aims to communicate a vital message to survivors: Recovery is possible, and seeking help is the first step. The exhibition began under the Women Leading Response & Recovery project, which was funded by the U.K.'s Foreign Commonwealth & Development Office and led by Pact. The project supported and bolstered the active contribution that women, women’s rights organizations, and excluded groups make in their communities and on the frontlines of the response to the war.
