Lodi Adopt-a-Child
The Lodi Adopt-A-Child Foundation was formed in 1989 as a Public Service Committee of the Police Officers' Association of Lodi. During Christmas 1989 the Foundation gave special gifts to 30 children and furnished a complete Christmas Dinner to the children and their families. In 1996 The Foundation was reorganized as a California Non-Profit Corporation and a tax-exempt Foundation under IRS rule 501(c)3. September 2002 saw the Foundation furnish new school supplies and clothing to over 126 children. During Christmas 2002 over 1,475 children received an article of clothing and a toy; usually of the child's choice. A fifteen member volunteer Board of Directors, elected from the general public, directs the Foundation in planning activities and ensuring that our aims and goals are met in a timely manner. The Foundation is completely funded and supported by public donations. Our staff is comprised completely of volunteers and none are paid for their time or volunteer efforts.
