Since 2004, we have been promoting ecological farming practices and mindful food choices that benefit human health, strengthen communities, and protect the environment. Stone Barns Center Visit Our Work About Us Support Welcome Stone Barns Center is a nonprofit farm education and research center founded in 2004. Our campus is a living laboratory where farmers ecologists chefs and eaters are invited to explore an ecological food culture. Winter member programs Stone Barns members will receive advance booking on all winter programming and a 10 discount on tickets. Signs of spring are popping up across the farm: 🌷 first flowers of the year are here: tulips and violas 💧vernal pool sampling is taken for water quality and population monitoring 🐷 livestock are transitioning to fresh forage 🌱 spring radishes are thriving in the greenhouse 🪚 peach trees have been pruned.

Tsai tsai seed saving. This purple stem mustard is a genetic mutation off-type that occurred many years ago in our greenhouse, which means we can’t get the seed anywhere else. Every year is a labor of love as we make selections and save seed based on traits that thrive in our environment.
