Just Shea is dedicated to providing access to safe working conditions, warehouse financing and market linkages for women shea collectors in Ghana. MISSION: We are committed to improving the health, safety, and income of rural women in the developing world. Our programs accomplish these goals by improving working conditions, fostering sustainable agriculture, building capacity, providing access tofinance, building infrastructure and enhancing market strategy.APPROACH: Our village-up approach brings impoverished women to the foreground and seeks to find self-sustaining solutions. Wisdom and study corroborate that when women earn income, 90 percent is used for their families, and every extra year a girl iseducated increases her wage capacity by 25 percent. Our approach to halting the well-known cycle of illiteracy and poverty is scalable and replicable. Its locus is the grass roots of the villages where the Just Shea Women live. We seek to develop, test, prove, and popularize models that significantlyincrease the income of poor, rural women and catalyze a cascading positive effect throughout their communities.
