Pennsylvania Speaker of the House Joanna McClinton and Professor Naomi Halas, M.A. '84 and Ph.D. '87 will deliver Bryn Mawr's 2025 Commencement addresses. McClinton, who will address the undergraduate class on May 17th at 2:00 p.m., was first elected to serve Pennsylvania in 2015 and has since made history in multiple legislative roles, most recently as the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House in the nation’s oldest legislature. Halas, after earning her Ph.D. in Physics at Bryn Mawr, went on to study light-nanoparticle interactions with applications ranging from biomedicine and optoelectronics to chemical sensing and light-driven green chemistry. She is the author of more than 400 refereed publications, has more than 30 issued patents, and has presented more than 650 invited talks.
