Tennessee Park Rangers Association

The Tennessee Park Rangers Association (TPRA) is a nonprofit organization that serves as a professional development and advocacy body for park rangers in the state of Tennessee. The association is headquartered in Pocahontas, Tennessee, and operates as a business league[5].

Mission and Activities

While specific details about the mission and activities of TPRA are not widely documented online, it generally supports the professional development of park rangers, likely by organizing meetings and events. For instance, TPRA holds quarterly meetings where it discusses various topics relevant to park management and leadership. In one such meeting held on December 9, 2020, at Montgomery Bell, Deputy Commissioner Jim Bryson spoke about leadership priorities for 2021[3].

Events and Engagements

The organization is also involved in hosting and participating in outdoor events that promote the role and contributions of park rangers. For example, the 2021 Horton 100 was scheduled at Henry Horton State Park, demonstrating TPRA's engagement with local recreational activities[3].

Membership and Networking

As part of its role within the broader park ranger community, TPRA is a member of the International Ranger Federation, highlighting its connection to global conservation efforts[4]. This affiliation likely enhances networking opportunities and cooperation on best practices in park management across international borders.

Overview

Overall, the Tennessee Park Rangers Association plays a vital role in supporting the work of park rangers in Tennessee through networking, professional development, and community engagement. Its activities contribute to improved management and conservation of state parks, aligning with broader national and international conservation goals.
