Image is seeking writing and art on the theme of kitchens for a special issue to be published late September 2025. The submission is due June 1. We're interested in the kitchen as both a room and an idea—a place of labor, connection, creation, sustenance. We'd like to see pieces about food, family, and domesticity—but also class, gender, climate, agriculture, and more. We're interested in home kitchens but also restaurant kitchens, soup kitchens, food trucks, and unorthodox spaces where cooking happens and people come together over food. We're open to work that addresses the theme obliquely.Our focus is on contemporary work that engages with religion and spirituality, including ancient traditions and present experience, faith and doubt, ambivalent wrestling and wholehearted devotion.
