“To educate the community about therapeutic horseback riding, provide counseling and equine-facilitated support services for recreation,exercise, sport and rehabilitative therapy in an inclusive setting. LeCheval Stable, a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization, provides an opportunity for individuals to explore the equestrian experience. Riders ages 5 to adult learn basic standards necessary for safe riding.Therapeutic Riding (TR) consists of mounted activities and (adaptive) riding activities conducted by instructors specially trained to work with individuals with diverse needs who desire to learn to ride and care for horses. The instructor evaluates and designs a program in conjunction with individualized strengths and needs. A collaborative team may consist of equine, instructor, headwalker, sidewalker(s) therapist,and/or mental health professional. Parent input and participation is encouraged. Hippotherapy promotes the use of the movement of the horse as a treatment strategy in physical, occupational and speech-language therapy sessions for people living with disabilities.Instruction at LeCheval Stable is provided in a naturalistic setting with outdoor arena and fields. Individualized Education Plan components are considered in the development of each rider's program. Equine related activities and the movement and support of the equine promotes opportunity for improvement in many areas to include: •Sensory stimulation •Social communication •Language development •Vocabulary enrichment •Peer interaction •Parent and sibling interaction •Improvement of postural alignment •Increased physical stamina •Strengthening of core muscles •Improved attention skills •Following multi-step directions •Integration of visual, auditory, kinesthetic and tactile senses •Academic and language based learning
