An interesting perspective from our friends at Prepare New York: "Most ESD programs don’t train heterosexual cisgender men, and the reasons for this are understandable. Since most people who commit sexual violence are men, it makes sense to teach self-defense to those that are most often harmed while excluding the group that is most likely to commit harm. Some worry that teaching self-defense to men and boys will make them more likely and capable of hurting others.
