Together with D&L the Museum interprets how eastern Pennsylvania led the industrial revolution. America was built on our Main Streets and in our historic towns, fueled by canals and rivers, harnessed by strong people along the way. We conserve and chronicle this leadership through our education programs and publications, artifacts and archives, canal boat and exhibits.

EastonsHugh Moore Park is a picturesque extension of the City of Easton where Americas golden age of canals is on full display. With more than two miles of restored Lehigh Canal a canal boat attraction unlike any other in Pennsylvania and the rest of the Northeast and one of the countrys largest canal heritage museums the 520acre park nestled between the Lehigh Canal and Lehigh River is a throwback to the years when mules pulling canal boats on narrow towpaths was a common sight in much of the United States east of the Mississippi River.

This Saturday, May 31st, is the annual Egypt Park Festival and Curt Simmons Day. Though the last of the early 1950s Philadelphia Phillies' “Whiz Kids” died at the age of 93 in 2022, the tiny town of Egypt, Pennsylvania continues its annual celebration of its biggest celebrity and the little ballpark that launched his All-Star career. On June 2nd, 1947, the Philadelphia Phillies came to Egypt to play an unusual mid-season exhibition game against a pick-up team of high school all-stars.
