Military spouses face many challenges alone but overcome them all with the strength of their community, and Kati Calhoun is no exception. Just 2 weeks after they married, Kati’s husband, Cliff, was sent to Korea. Kati dealt with many deployments as a single mother. The family budget was stretched thin countless times, and she felt the strain of living in new places so far from family. Through these struggles, she understood the importance of keeping her children close and reassuring them that their family would be whole again soon. Battling these struggles firsthand gave Kati a unique perspective and encouraged her to support other military families. In just five years, she became a tireless advocate for Operation Homefront’s mission of boosting the well-being of military families, earning her Operation Homefront Volunteer of the Year honors in 2023. As Vice President of Marketing for Kent’s Market, Kati has seen the needs of military families through a personal and professional lens. During Military Appreciation Month, Kati and her family will camp overnight in the Kent’s Market parking lot in Plain City, Utah, preparing for 400 military families to attend a Holiday Meals for Military® event. Not only is she the volunteer team captain for the event, but she’ll also grill meat and help oversee meal kit assembly. We can’t wait to see the success of this upcoming Holiday Meals for Military® event and see Kati’s passion for giving back to those who serve come to fruition.
