To encourage nature study personal enjoyment and inspiration for all who choose to experience this local treasure. Our History South Woods Park Association the oldest conservation group in Wisconsin was established in 1902 in Ripon by a group of concerned women educators. They recognized the indiscriminate removal of timber from the area which then still retained some of the characteristics of an oak foresthabitat that developed following the end of the last Ice Age and banded together to protect it.
