For #GivingTuesday we are raising money for New Roots, Inc and our all free Christian Care Communities Fresh Stop Market @ the Friendship and Chapel Houses in Old Louisville. The sole grocery store shut down ages ago and many live without easy transportation to get food. Many of the older adults who live here really struggle to gain access to any fresh, local produce, and get shut out of the local food economy without our help. Just last week, we raised $1000 from Lora Haynes class and the Student Philanthropy Program administered by the Office of Community Engagement at University of Louisville. The students representing New Roots came in first place out of seven final entrants. Let's more than double this by raising $2500 today for a total of $6000. It only costs $6000 to feed almost 50 individuals fresh produce for the growing season. Because, what is a summer in Louisville without farm fresh food from Rootbound Farm ?!
