Representing over 1,400 hardworking Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers in Eastern Missouri Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Locals 1 and 18 of Missouri, Organized in 1864 THE PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF THIS LOCAL UNION INCLUDE: TO UNITE AS FAR AS PRACTICABLE ALL OF THE JOURNEYMAN BRICKLAYERS OF THIS AREA IN THIS BODY FOR THE PURPOSE OF SECURING CONCERT OF ACTION IN WHATEVER MAY BE REGARDED AS CONDUCIVE TO THEIR INTERESTS. TO IMPROVE THE WAGES, HOURS AND WORKING CONDITIONS OF ITS MEMBERS; TO INCREASE THEIR JOB SECURITY, ADVANCE THEIR ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND CULTURAL INTERESTS AND TO DEFEND THEIR CIVIL RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES. TO DISSEMINATE INFORMATION REGARDING ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, POLITICAL AND OTHER MATTERS EFFECTING THE LIVES AND WELFARE OF THE WORKERS. TO ADVANCE THE INTERESTS OF MEMBERS BY ADVOCATING AND ENDEAVORING TO SECURE THE ENACTMENT OF LAWS BENEFICIAL TO THEM, AND ADVOCATING AND ENDEAVORING TO OBTAIN THE DEFEAT OR REPEAL OF LAWS DETRIMENTAL TO THEM. TO GIVE ASSISTANCE AND ENCOURAGEMENT TO OTHER LABOR ORGANIZATIONS. TO AID CHARITABLE, EDUCATIONAL, AND POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS AND INSTITUTIONS.

Bricklayers' Local 1 of Missouri // Tilesetters' Local 18 of Missouri Organized in 1864 we are theBricklayers Local 1 and the first Labor Union and Local of any trade west of the Mississippi River. The Bricklayers Allied Craftworkers Administrative District Council of Eastern Missouri represents Local 1 of Missouri bricklayers stone masonsand pointerscleanerscaulkers and Local 18 of Missouri tilesetters marble masons and terrazzo workers. We take pride in the fact that weve built St. Louis and that our leadership has taken care of the membership of this Union for more than 160 years and will continue to do so for many more.
