American Society of Hematology

The American Society of Hematology (ASH) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the blood, bone marrow, and the immunologic, hemostatic and vascular systems. ASH is the world's largest professional society serving both clinicians and scientists working to conquer blood diseases.

History and Founding

ASH was founded in 1958 with its first official meeting held in April of that year in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The meeting gathered over 300 hematologists to discuss key research and clinical issues related to blood and blood diseases. Since its inception, ASH has played a pivotal role in advancing the field of hematology.
