Visao Foundation
The Visão Foundation is a non-profit that educates, empowers, and supports poorly educated, marginalized, poor, and alienated youth in Sierra Leone, West Africa. We believe strongly in the potential of young people, and therefore we strive to provide consistent and effective support to empower them to take ownership of their future, rise above their circumstances, and achieve their dreams. Sierra Leone has one of the world's youngest populations, with youths comprising more than 50% of the country's population. Over 60% of youth in Sierra Leone are unemployed, which has resulted in a surge in youth disaffections and crime. Many young people are imprisoned by the standards of living and the quality of education, and unfortunately don't receive the essential support and encouragement needed for proper development. All young people deserve a better future. They deserve to be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to overcome obstacles and to succeed in life. Knowledge equals empowerment, and by empowering youth we not only help them to take ownership of their future but also change the future of their societies. With that said, our goal is simple: help these young people achieve a better quality of life, and become strong, independent individuals.
