FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THE BOROUGH OF HOLLIDAYBURG FOR QUESTIONS: Melanie Ramsey, mramsey@hollidaysburgpa.org, 814-696-0544 Hollidaysburg Mayor Joseph Dodson will be visiting the Hollidaysburg Area High School auditorium on Monday, April 7 at 11am to make a proclamation that April 7 through 14 is “Hollidaysburg Area High School Music Department Week” in the Borough of Hollidaysburg. This proclamation comes in recognition of four recent Walt Disney World outreach performances in Orlando, Florida by Senior High music department ensembles, including 7 Hollidaysburg music teachers and over 150 students representing the Hollidaysburg Area School District. The Hollidaysburg Area School District Music Department has been recognized for the past 13 consecutive years as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation. Address of the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School: 1510 North Montgomery Street, Hollidaysburg. Wording of the proclamation is below for your reference. Whereas, The Hollidaysburg Area Senior High Music Department has established a successful ongoing performance partnership with the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. The partnership has grown over the years since 2007 to now include over 150 students, 7 Hollidaysburg music teachers, more than a dozen chaperones, and over 200 local citizens of Hollidaysburg. The 2025 Disney performances featured four separate ensembles: •The Hollidaysburg Senior High School Jazz Band directed by Scott Sheehan •The Hollidaysburg String Ensemble directed by Stephanie Everett •The Hollidaysburg Senior High Concert Choir directed by Geoffrey McKain •The Golden Tiger Marching Band led by Scott Sheehan and assisted by Brandon Harris, Deanna Herb, Maria McElhinney, Geoffrey McKain, Julie Storm, and Alyssa Brozenich. Beyond the partnership with Walt Disney World, the Hollidaysburg Area Music Department is dedicated to the continued tradition of musical excellence in our community and offers all students the opportunity to discover within themselves a source of creativity, growth, enrichment, and the means of human expression which will last a lifetime. The Hollidaysburg Area School District Music Department has been recognized for the past 13 consecutive years as one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” in the United States by the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation.
