Kim Rupert Named First Female Executive Director of the Lincoln Community Center The Lincoln Community Center Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Kim Rupert as the new Executive Director, effective immediately. Rupert will be succeeding Shane Carter, who announced his resignation to pursue other opportunities at the end of 2024. Kim will serve as the 8th Director of LCC since 1938. Kim has been with the community center since 2023 and served as the Interim Executive Director since the beginning of the year while the Board of Directors conducted their next Executive Director search. The Board created a special committee of board members and community leaders to conduct their national search to fill the position, receiving 111 resumes from states as far away as Alaska. “Kim was clearly the best person to lead the Lincoln Community Center, and she has the unanimous support of our Board,” stated Matt Levorchick, President of the Board of Directors. Kim grew up in Troy, Ohio. She and her husband Dan have two adult daughters and three adopted boys still living at home. She went to Miami East High School, and got her Bachelor of Science in Education with an English minor at Wright State University. She completed her Master’s Degree in Administration at The University of Dayton. She has taught in private and public schools, been an adjunct professor, and has worked the last 20 years in non-profit administration. She has also served as an advocate for children through Miami County CASA, various local and state agencies, and worked on foster care and kinship advocacy and reform. “I love the Center, the people we serve, and the Troy Community, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to grow LCC into the future, “ Kim said. The original building was constructed in 1939 as a community center to promote the welfare of the African-Americans of Troy and the vicinity, allow the use of its grounds and hall for social and festive purposes, establish recreational facilities for the children of Troy, and disperse charity to the aged and needy, so far as funds will permit. The center underwent an expansive addition in 2021 which was necessary to house the numerous programs offered which all support the community center’s mission of educating, informing and uplifting the community.
