🦧 At our next Storytelling For Change, we’re hosting a virtual screening of the documentary Nuraga Bhumi, followed by a conversation with special guest Nayla Azmi — an Indigenous Batak storyteller and conservationist based in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. With over a decade of experience, Nayla is deeply committed to conservation, decolonization, and the empowerment of women. Directed by Danielle Khan Da Silva, "Nuraga Bhumi" follows an all-Indigenous women patrol team in Sumatra, Indonesia, trained by Gunung Leuser National Park rangers to protect the forest and their critically endangered tiger ancestors. This powerful short documentary highlights the vital role of Indigenous women in conservation, offering a glimpse into what it means for women-led communities to reclaim their birthright as land protectors. Against all odds, these women rise to defend their ancestral home — a courageous act of resistance and restoration. Winner of Best Social Justice Short Documentary at the Cannes World Film Festival, nominee at the European Cinema Film Festival, and official selection of the Bali International Film Festival. https://www.photographerswithoutborders.org/storytellingforchange #morethanphotographers #photographerswithoutborders #storytellingforchange (fb)
