Today, LUCHA members, community leaders and LUCHA champions made history and announced the state level lawsuit against Prop 314, the dangerous law that threatens Arizona’s sovereignty and communities… ••••••••••••• “We are here to fight back against a rising tide of authoritarianism. Authoritarianism means strict obedience to power at the expense of personal freedom—and that’s exactly what we’re seeing now. This new political order is targeting our communities by criminalizing immigrant families, undermining civil rights, and fueling fear and division across our state. The MAGA extremist agenda is not about safety or justice—it’s about control, cruelty, and silencing the voices of the very people who make Arizona vibrant, resilient, and strong.” - Alejandra Gomez, Executive Director of LUCHA •••••••••••• “I’ve lived through what laws like Prop 314 do to our communities. Under SB1070, I watched families get torn apart, workers get harassed, and entire neighborhoods fall silent out of fear. Prop 314 is not about safety—it’s about control. It’s about racial profiling, intimidation, and giving police the power to treat people like suspects just for looking or sounding like me. We’ve seen this before, and we won’t let it happen again. We’re not going back—we’re fighting back.” — Martin Hernandez, Vice President, UFCW Arizona ••••••••••••• “Prop 314 is not about safety—it’s about fear, control, and political power. It’s part of a coordinated extremist agenda to turn Arizona into a testing ground for Trump’s mass deportation plan. As lawmakers, our job is to protect our communities, not terrorize them. We’ve seen this before with SB1070, and we know the pain it causes—families separated, workers harassed, entire neighborhoods driven underground. We cannot normalize cruelty or allow political ambition to override our values. That’s why I support this lawsuit, and that’s why I’m standing with every Arizonan who refuses to be silenced or scapegoated.” — State Senator Priya Sundareshan, Democratic Leader, Arizona Senate (fb)

We joined the ACLU at a community forum to discuss harmful immigration legislation and how our communities can take action. It was a powerful conversation about the challenges we’re facing and the importance of organizing for change. Want to get involved? Sign up to volunteer and be part of the movement! (fb)
