The use of electronic monitoring (EM) has become an increasingly common practice across the United States, with all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the federal government utilizing some form of tracking technology. Despite its growing implementation, there remains limited understanding of how it is applied and how effective it is, particularly with regards to reducing recidivism. Governor Kevin Stitt and Arnold Ventures have announced $10 million in new resources to fuel the Be A Neighbor initiative, hosted within the Department of Human Services (DHS). This will drive additional investment into the state to create more opportunities and better outcomes for Oklahoma’s children and youth.
