This week, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed HB 1460, which reduces fees associated with a person’s interaction with the criminal justice system. Research shows that these fees and associated court debt establish additional barriers for citizens seeking second chances and create perverse incentives for government. Thank you to Governor Stitt, Representative Tammy West, Senator Todd Gollihare, and the OK legislature for your leadership on this issue. In the Wall Street Journal Opinion, Arnold Ventures tax and fiscal policy fellow Scott Hodge argues that the SALT deduction hike benefits wealthy districts while leaving poorer ones behind. "The big, beautiful tax bill sets back tax policy by a decade, and it facilitates the continuation of reverse tax redistribution from the poor to the rich," writes Hodge.
