I am from Goldsboro, NC, and was exposed to alcohol and drugs at a young age. I quickly fell into drinking and drugging. By age 16, I was a full on addict, using daily. I've been in and out of prison more times than I can count. By age 24, I was smuggling benzos across the Mexican border. I was in and out of jobs, but I never laid down my addiction to substances. By age 27, I was an emotional wreck, but I continued to feed my addiction… I had to. I eventually ended up needing back and shoulder surgery, which presented a legal way for me to use. I did not know then the toll prescription drugs would have on me. Fast forwarding, I was eventually introduced to MY GOD….Fentanyl. I was hooked immediately. After that, I lost everything you could imagine, including my own life on June 20, 2024, before being revived by paramedics. I told the paramedics I was done and I needed help. I was connected with a man named Mark Christopher, who connected me to The Colony and, eventually, CHM. Before coming to CHM last August, I was a broken man separated from the Lord, dead in my trespasses and transgressions. I always knew about God, but today, I have a relationship with God just as He has always wanted. It started by listening to God, meaning reading His word! I no longer dwell on the past, but now have the peace that surpasses understanding. I know one day I will be glorified and be face to face with the Lord and no longer struggle in this flesh. Until then, I am so grateful that I am no longer a slave to sin! I had the wrong father before, but Matthew 6:24 told me no one can serve two masters. I am so thankful to my true and perfect Father. How kind, merciful, forgiving, loving, and patient He is to reconcile me to Himself. Today, I know there is nothing I could have ever done to earn my way. That was God's work the whole time.
