Read below to learn more about Mike’s impact in Hunterdon County! 🌟 Why do you volunteer with United Way of Hunterdon County? "I volunteer to give back to our local community in a meaningful way. United Way focuses on ALICE – the 26% of households in Hunterdon County that earn too much to qualify for government assistance but still struggle to make ends meet. Hunterdon County is a beautiful place to live and work, but it’s also expensive. Through various programs and services, UWHC helps improve the lives of families, seniors, and individuals across the county." 🌟 What’s your favorite thing about United Way of Hunterdon County? "My favorite volunteer program is VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), which offers free tax preparation services. Last year, we prepared over 1,600 tax returns and helped with applications for ANCHOR and Senior Freeze property tax assistance. I love the interaction with the community during tax prep – we get to hear their stories, see how hard they work to support their families, and understand the challenges they face, like living on a fixed income or dealing with unexpected life changes.
