Story Pirates Changemakers The nonprofit arm of The Story Pirates CHANGING KIDSLIVES ONE STORY AT A TIME The mission of the Story Pirates is to celebrate the words and ideas of young people and to create confident literate students equipped with a variety of tools for written verbal and artistic selfexpression. Story Pirates Changemakers makes those tools accessible to underresourced communities and families. 5th grade Teacher Toluca Lake Elementary Struggling students began to use writing as a means to express their thoughts and feelings for perhaps the first time in their lives. They began to write because they wanted to not just because they had to do so.
