Congratulations to Brother Ed Hoover, Susquehanna Lodge No. 364, Millersburg (pictured with Brother Bill Soloway, executive director, PA Masonic Blood+Organ Donor Program and heart transplant recipient), on a successful double lung transplant! Readers of the spring 2025 issue of "The Pennsylvania Freemason" magazine were introduced to Brother Ed, who was awaiting a double-lung transplant after being diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) in 2018. His father also had IPF, and the support that his family received from the town of Millersburg before he passed influenced Brother Ed to become a Pennsylvania Mason and Tall Cedar so he could take part in their community-building and charitable efforts. Dr. Christian A. Bermudez, Director of Thoracic Transplantation; Surgical Director, Lung Transplant Program and Cardiogenic Shock (ECMO) Program; and Professor of Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Penn Medicine), performed Brother Ed's surgery on April 30.
