This weekend is your chance to meet the people behind the gardens, explore meaningful ways to get involved, and learn how our volunteers help bring Wave Hill to life all year-round. Whether you’re passionate about nature, education, or the arts, there’s a place for you here. Spring is filled with airy and structural plant combinations. Early flowering shrubs and trees have branches dotted with colorful and aromatic flowers. Lacking leaves, these woody plants' underlying structure shines through. The airiness is harnessed in Wave Hill's landscape design with vignettes of layered plants. Which spring vignette is your favorite? 1. Flowering apricot (Prunus mume 'Nicholas') with Japanese cornel dogwood (Cornus officinalis 'Kintoki') 2. Magnolia (Magnolia × loebneri 'Merrill') with Lawson false cypress (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Oregon Blue') and eastern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) 3. Black pussy willow (Salix gracilistyla 'Melanostachys') with scarlet willow (Salix alba 'Chermesina') and cornelian cherry dogwood (Cornus mas) 4. Paperbush (Edgeworthia chrysantha) with vining bramble (Rubus lineatus) and eastern red cedar (Juniperus virginiana) — Jess Brey, Senior Horticultural Interpreter (fb)
