Someone came, (in the middle of the night?), and destroyed this beautiful tree. They sawed through the trunk, and dug up the roots, and left a mess. What kind of mental illness compels someone to trespass and destruction? Why diminish any bit of beauty that makes our city streets a haven for pollinators. This is the second such incident of heard of recently. I hope the perpetrator is caught and reeducated. I hope folks bring cutters and take home some of the flowers to grace a table for a few meals. I discovered this restaurant at 135 S. 52nd St yesterday. It served great food in a clean and beautiful environment. I hope it thrives. And it reminded me that GCCA needs a volunteer business cheerleader, someone who can: 1. Send me postable links to new local businesses, 2. Encourage neighbors to dhop local, 3. Discuss challenges and solutions common to locsl business, 4. Facilitate Networks with local leaders and other businesses . We have a few board positions open and areas of great need seem to be on our Business and Education (maybe someone on the Lea School PTA?) committees. Short term, give yourself a treat and try the Deviled Eggs, Salmon or refreshing Smoothies at Slurp’D. (fb)
