Loving Father, who desires only good for us, we praise you for this new day. You know our hearts and it is you who are our deepest desire. Allow us a new beginning this day. As you love us unfailingly, may we also learn to love ourselves and our brothers and sisters: forgiving ourselves and forgiving each other. Send your Spirit of peace upon the world and make it free of war, vengeance, anger and rage. May we be examples of your gentleness and mercy. Grant healing to the sick and suffering just as you healed St. Peregrine, our companion on the journey. Help us to put aside all anxiety and worries, whether of the past or future, in order to live fully in the serenity of your presence. Amen. -May God the Father who creates all things new, increase in our hearts the gifts of faith, hope, and love. Amen. -May Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, pour his healing grace upon us. Christ is now exalted above the heavens, but he still suffers on earth all the pain that we, the members of his body, have to bear… Why do we on earth not strive to find rest with him in heaven even now, through the faith, hope and love that unites us to him? While in heaven, he is also with us; and we while on earth are with him. He is here with us by his divinity, his power and his love. (St. Augustine.)
