Last week, our Rotary Club had the privilege of hearing from Patty Croom (https://www.pattycroom.com), who shared her inspiring journey of growth, courage, and community. On her 50th birthday, Patty found herself reflecting on life’s blessings and feeling a strong pull to step beyond her comfort zone. She emphasized the importance of lifelong learning—not just through education, but by leading with empathy. By truly listening to others and embracing their experiences, she believes we can grow in ways that extend beyond our own lives. Patty also shared her personal story of overcoming fear and self-doubt. For years, she held onto a book she had written about her most vulnerable childhood experiences but hesitated to share it with the world. It wasn’t until she took a leap of faith—supported by her daughter and friends—that she found the courage to publish it. She reminded us that when we step into vulnerability, we invite others to do the same, strengthening the bonds of community. Quoting Teddy Roosevelt, she encouraged us all to step into the arena, take action, and embrace the unknown with bravery. Her message aligns perfectly with Rotary’s mission: through service, support, and courage, we can create real change together. (fb)
