The Society of Hellman Fellows Advancing the careers of junior faculty through endowed research fellowships on all tenUniversity of California campuses. Chris and Warren Hellman started the Hellman Fellows Program in 1995 in partnership with their daughter Frances Hellman who was a recentlytenured faculty at UC San Diego. The landmark Hellman Fellows Program has been transformational for scholars throughout the years providing early career fellowships before tenure that allows faculty to continue to take risks gather necessary data or to complete research that will take their academic careers to the next level. Our Programs Ten University of California Campuses and Three Private Institutions The Hellman Fellows Program was launched at UC San Diego and UC Berkeley in 1995 making a handful of awards to promising earlystage researchers.
