Purpose/ Position Summary Bugle Corps Monitors play a key role in managing visitors at the Elk and Bison Prairie. They work directly with volunteers, providing training, feedback, and ensuring they have the necessary tools to perform their roles effectively. Monitors help maintain visitor safety by enforcing regulations within the Prairie and educating guests about responsible wildlife viewing. Additionally, they provide interpretation to enhance visitors' understanding of the Elk and Bison Prairie’s unique ecosystem. Monitors are also responsible for keeping records of elk and bison activity. Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Must be 18 years of age or older Must have a valid driver's license Must have exceptional spatial awareness and comfortable driving a truck around obstacles Strong communication and public speaking skills to engage with visitors. Basic understanding of animal behavior 20/20 vision (either through corrective lenses or natural vision) Comfortable working in remote locations in all weather conditions Strong leadership and decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure situations. Conflict resolution skills to handle rule enforcement and visitor concerns professionally.
