Northern Illinois Pug Rescue & Adoption Inc.
Overview
Northern Illinois Pug Rescue & Adoption Inc. (NIPRA) was a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned and stray Pug dogs. The organization aimed to place these dogs in permanent, loving homes within the community.
History and Operations
NIPRA was established to address the needs of Pugs requiring care and new homes. Over its operational life, the organization rescued and rehomed over 1,000 Pugs, making it a significant force in supporting these animals[2].
NIPRA accepted Pugs of all ages and health conditions into its care, providing medical services including spaying/neutering, dental care, heartworm treatment, and vaccinations. The organization incurred significant medical costs, averaging about $300 per Pug[4].
Achievements and Closure
For more than two decades, NIPRA actively engaged in rescuing Pugs, building a network of adopters, fosters, volunteers, and supporters. The organization achieved its mission by successfully rehoming a large number of Pugs. As of December 31, 2023, NIPRA ceased its operations after finding homes for all Pugs in its care. This decision marked the end of its active role in Pug rescue and adoption[2][5].
Legacy
NIPRA's legacy lies in its commitment to improving the lives of Pugs and connecting them with loving families, thereby contributing positively to the community it served. The organization's efforts have left a lasting impact on the welfare of these animals.
