However when a childs parent is incarcerated and a healthy connection is maintained the child is less likely to experience social emotional and educational problems. For the parents a healthy family connection reduces the likelihood they will commit another crime after leaving prison. The Messages Project strives to maintainthe bond between children and their incarcerated parents through production and distribution of personalized video messages and other interactive media.
