EGIS Night is always a blast when you have ambitious students like ours. Each year, eighth grade independent studies give students the opportunity to learn something outside of the typical curriculum—and the places they chose to go were all over the place. Vocal performance, learning the job of an EMT, becoming an umpire, composing music for video games, constructing a marble run to model rollercoaster physics.

Our seventh graders wrapped up their stream studies unit this year with a dynamic day of kayaking, birdwatching and water sampling at the Green Lane Reservoir. Aboard their floating classroom for the day, students examined the presence of mayfly larvae, pH levels and other important concentrations that help to measure the health of the water ways.
