Techbridge Girls
We believe that w/o BIPOC girls’ experiences, values, interests, voices, and brilliance, we will never experience what a STEM revolution can do for our world. STEM is good for girls, and girls are good for STEM. https://www.techbridgegirls.org/ Techbridge Girls re-engineers how Black, Indigenous, and girls* of color from marginalized communities experience STEM by catalyzing out-of-school time STEM educators and STEM professionals into equity educators and advocates through training and curricula promoting access, belonging, and persistence.

Techbridge Girls
Techbridge Girls is an award-winning national nonprofit organization in the United States dedicated to inspiring girls from underserved communities to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Founded with support from the National Science Foundation, it initially launched at the Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, California, before becoming an independent 501(c)(3) organization.
Mission and Programs
Techbridge Girls focuses on challenging gender, racial, and class biases in STEM fields by developing gender-responsive and culturally relevant curricula. The organization aims to increase access, belonging, and persistence in STEM education for Black, Indigenous, and all girls of color, as well as gender-expansive youth. It achieves this through after-school and summer programs, career exploration activities, and academic and career guidance. Additionally, Techbridge Girls provides training and support to educators, role models, colleges, and corporations, fostering a community of advocates for girls in STEM.
Key programs include Ignite and ChangeMakers, both designed to engage girls in hands-on, culturally relevant STEM experiences that emphasize BIPOC contributions and empowerment. The STEM Equity Learning Community offers educators strategies to combat inequities and foster a more inclusive STEM learning environment.
Impact
Since its inception, Techbridge Girls has served over 6,000 girls in grades 4-12 through direct programs in the San Francisco Bay Area, Greater Seattle, and Washington, D.C. Furthermore, it has trained more than 20,000 role models, teachers, and family members to support girls' paths toward STEM careers. The organization is committed to promoting economic mobility through STEM education, as these careers often offer significantly higher pay than non-STEM professions.
History
Techbridge Girls was founded by Linda Kekelis and has since expanded to include programs in multiple regions across the U.S. It celebrates its achievements through initiatives like the #leadfearlessly campaign and has recently welcomed new leadership. Its vision is to ensure equitable STEM learning experiences for all girls, particularly those from marginalized communities, by 2030.
Leadership and Strategy
Under the leadership of CEO Nikole Collins-Puri, Techbridge Girls aims to reach one million girls by 2030. The organization continues to evolve its strategic direction, incorporating new models such as the Inspire program. Its headquarters is located in Oakland, California.
