Yesterday, AFMO members were invited for a private morning visit of the “Art is in the Street” exhibition at Musée d’Orsay. Before public hours, guests experienced an intimate look at this bold and timely exhibition exploring how the street, its symbols, slogans, and everyday textures, has inspired artists from the 19th century. The visit offered a rare opportunity to reflect on the intersection of public space and artistic expression, with powerful works ranging from decorative posters to political propagandas. AFMO Provence Trip: In the footstep of Van Gogh and Cézanne From the hilltop village of Ménerbes to the art-filled grounds of Château La Coste, AFMO’s provence spring trip continued through the landscapes that shaped Cézanne’s vision. Guests were welcomed by the Mayor of Aix-en-Provence for a cocktail in the historic Salle des États before enjoying exclusive access to Jas de Bouffan and the Atelier des Lauves, led by Denis Coutagne, honorary curator and President of the Société Cézanne. These privileged visits brought us closer to the life and process of the artist Picasso called “the father of us all.” Our steps then traced the ochre rocks of Bibémus Quarry, where Cézanne’s eye transformed nature into near-abstraction. The final day led us to Montagne Sainte-Victoire, his lifelong muse, with a stop in Puyloubier for a leisurely lunch and a visit to Maison Fouque, masters of the traditional santons figurines. With a farewell dinner after sunset at “Hélène Darroze à Villa La Coste” concluded a journey filled with celebration of art, legacy, and French heritage. (fb)
