Sixth and Eighth Grade History students recently wrapped up hands-on book projects that brought their curriculum to life. In Eighth Grade, students created scrapbooks from the perspective of a fictional immigrant or a family member who came to the United States during the Second Great Wave (1890s–1920s). Each scrapbook included an immigrant ID card and journal entries imagining what it might have felt like to leave home, arrive in a new country, and begin building a new life—grounded in their research and understanding of the time period. Sixth Grade students took on the role of a traveler in Mansa Musa’s legendary 1324 CE caravan to Mecca. Using documents, maps, excerpts, and charts, they wrote journal entries as one of the 60,000 pilgrims making the 4,000-mile hajj, describing the challenges and discoveries along the way. These creative projects gave students a chance to explore history through storytelling, empathy, and imagination. 📚 (fb)

🌷🦗🪲 A Heartfelt THANK YOU to all the families, community members, children, TPS students, vendors, and faculty who helped make our third annual Buzz & Bloom Open House and Art Fair an unforgettable celebration! We were thrilled to welcome spring surrounded by the vibrant energy of our community and to share the magic of TPS with prospective families. From joyful spring-themed activities to a dazzling parade of large-scale flowers and insects—crafted with care by our talented students, families, and art department—the day was bursting with creativity and joy. A special shoutout to Ruth Teague, and Ms. Sweeney, our phenomenal art teacher, for their vision, leadership, and artistic flair. We’re already counting down to next year! (fb)
