Where We Live

Follow Message Edit

Where We Live is designed to catalyze and facilitate community-led solutions toward a common vision for a region that is thriving, progressive, and culturally diverse-a region that is better able to attract and retain young talent. Through its program and activities, Where We Live supports the innovative ideas of young people (18-50 years of age), thereby developing their leadership potential and increasing their level of investment in the Brunswick County community. Young people can be effective change agents; and by providing young people the opportunity to develop and execute their own initiatives, Where We Live directly affects the landscape of tomorrow's civic and philanthropic community. Where We Live provides the resources to take the civic initiatives of young people from ideas to reality and builds the capacity of young people to leverage their low threshold capital investments into high impact community results, which create a critical mass of activity for positive regional change. Where We Live engages and empowers young people, serving those who demonstrate the drive and the capacity to think creatively about their communities. They are the doers who have innovative ideas that have the potential to become initiatives that can affect real change in a community. They are artists, designers, entrepreneurs, students, professors, musicians, photographers, performers, outdoor adventurers, and writers. While they may not yet be well known or recognized, they are the emerging leaders of the region. They are as varied in their interests as they are diverse culturally, racially, and ethnically. They join networks-civic and professional-that surround them with people of like interests. They care about creating change and building a culture of inclusion and collaboration among young people and their communities. They set trends, take action, and influence the perceptions of others.
