April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we’re celebrating the incredible individuals who fuel our mission with compassion and dedication. Today, we spotlight Molly Gonzales, who leads weekly crochet therapy classes at our Safe Haven shelter. Her sessions help youth express themselves, build motor skills, and find moments of peace and joy. One favorite memory? The night Dani had nowhere to go, she found Covenant House PA. A recent high school graduate facing homelessness, she was afraid and unsure of what came next. But at our Safe Haven emergency shelter, she found more than a bed—she found people who believed in her. Through the Rights of Passage Program, Dani gained stability, guidance, and the confidence to pursue higher education. She graduated with a degree in Biology and Mortuary Science and is now working toward her funeral director’s license, while interning at a funeral home. “My graduation was a turning point—it’s not about where you’re from, but where you’re going.” On May 15, Dani will share her journey at Sleep Out: Young Professional Edition, where young professionals, faith groups, and community members will give up their beds for one night to ensure youth can always find a safe place to sleep at Covenant House.
