It was our honor to host a special dedication ceremony today in memory of Philip Solinto who was a student in our school and then a participant in our Adult Program, sharing over 40 years of his life with CP Nassau. The Solinto family was always a caring, giving and supportive family and continue to be very special to all at CP Nassau. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18uQQ6F5HS/?mibextid=WC7FNe (fb)

CP Nassau Invited to Participate in First CP Awareness Day at Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center CP Nassau was invited by Erin Donohue, Director of Hospital Operations. Atul Bhatara, successful entrepreneur and CEO of Atul Skincare, had approached Erin Donohue about recognizing Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day and the event was put on the schedule! Atul was born with Cerebral Palsy and endured 14 surgeries beginning at age nine and Cohen’s Children's Medical Center was a great help to him. Atul commented “Thanks to the loving care I received, I learned that despite the physical challenges I face every day, it’s important to focus on what you have, not on what’s missing.” Atul distributed lovely gift bags with samples to the staff who stopped by his info table. Pat Quinn, CP Nassau Community Outreach manager attended along with Adult Day Services staff member, Daneisha Prater who transported two Life Options participants, Patty Vassiliadou and Maria Arriaga to be part of the day with samples of their art. We had a table set up in the main lobby from noon till 1:30 for hospital visitors and staff to stop at. Information and signage about Cerebral Palsy, the MOVE program, CP Nassau Job fair, Casino Royale and Sci Fi events and more filled our table. The big hit was the free raffle to win a framed print by Patty or Maria. People were congratulating both women about their beautiful creations and asking all sorts of questions about their creativity and talent. Both were beaming. As a special thanks for their time and interest, we are sending prints to all who entered to be distributed from the hospital operations office. News 12 was there and a nice report aired that evening. CP Nassau is grateful for this opportunity and looks forward to doing more with Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center and Atul Bhatara. (fb)
