AKIM, founded in 1951, is the national organization caring for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Israel. Today, AKIM is the largest and most comprehensive provider of programs and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities – regardless of their age, faith, ethnic background or gender – serving 34,500 children, teenagers, adults and senior citizens, as well as their 130,000 family members, throughout Israel.
