Lexington hosted a special evening screening of the Apple TV Original Films documentary "Deaf President NOW!" on May 2nd. Patrice Creamer, Lexington alumna and board vice-president, moderated the pre-screening Q & A session with director @Nyle DiMarco and Greg Hlibok, one of the subjects of the documentary. Mr. Hlibok, a Lexington alumnus and member of the board of trustees, was one of the four student leaders during the Deaf President Now movement. Board co-president Dr. Kim Kurz announced the establishment of The Nyle DiMarco Endowment Fund in recognition of Mr. DiMarco's contributions to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community. Mr. DiMarco also received honorary proclamations from NYS Senator Jessica Ramos, 13th District, and NYS Assemblymember Jessica González-Rojas, 34th District. The screening was preceded by a special reception for Lexington alumni, friends, and supporters. #DeafPresidentNow premieres on Apple TV on May 16, 2025. (fb)

Lexington students were thrilled to meet @Nyle DiMarco last Friday during a special early screening of #AppleFilms documentary #deafpresidentnow. Middle and high school students participated in a Q & A with Mr. DiMarco after the screening of the film while Lower School students posed their own questions during a special meet and greet in the library. Students' questions ranged from "How did you learn about Deaf history?" and "What inspired you to make a documentary about DPN?" to "What is your favorite animal?" and "What is your favorite rock?" "Deaf President Now" is the story of the movement that resulted in the appointment of Gallaudet University's first Deaf president. The 1988 campus-wide campaign brought national recognition to the rights of people with disabilities and helped to pave the way for the 1990 passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The documentary was co-directed by Nyle DiMarco and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Davis Guggenheim. Mr. DiMarco, who attended Lexington as a young child, is actively producing and developing projects that champion Deaf and disability narratives and foster inclusive storytelling. #deafpresidentnow premieres on #AppleTVPlus on May 16, 2025.
