The Flagship Detroit Foundation is a non-profit (501c-3) organization dedicated to preserving the legacy of one of the most popular aircraft in American Airlines history. The Flagship Detroit, NC-17334, is the oldest flying DC-3 in the world Dedicated to the preservation, operation, and display of the oldest flying DC-3 in the world. We intend to educate the public about the history of commercial aviation and honor the many designers, engineers, flight crews, and passengers that participated in this golden era of the inauguration of successful commercial aviation.

FLAGSHIP DETROIT FOUNDATION — FLAGSHIP DETROIT DC-3 FLAGSHIP DETROIT FOUNDATION FLAGSHIP DETROIT DC3 AMERICAN AIRLINES FLAGSHIP DETROIT The Flagship Detroit was manufactured in early 1937 and American Airlines accepted delivery of the Detroit on March 2 1937. The airplane was designated as a Douglas DC3G102. It was the twentyfourth DC3 in Americans fleet which eventually totaled eightyfour aircraft. American Airlines flew the Detroit in regular passenger service until 1947 at which time it was sold.
